To the Future- A sustainable future for local Alaskans is important to Yukuskokon
Yukuskokon is dedicated to sustainability and the development of local workforce in rural Alaska communities. We endeavor to represent local talent in the regions where we operate. As a liaison with the local villages, Yukuskokon provides a communication link between industry and village councils, native organizations, and special interest groups.
We truly believe that people should come first. As such, Yukuskokon’s mission is two-fold: 1) To provide the best professional services to industry, and 2) To work closely with rural Alaskans by providing talented, hard working people with the resources to develop their skills while at the same time appreciating the value of local culture.
The initial concept for Yukuskokon (a combination of the river names Yukon and Kuskokwim) in 2003 was for a rural workforce development company. As exemplified by our logo, our goal is to make mining and exploration a part of local heritage. Our principal, William Burnett, has worked hard to engrain his passion for creating employment opportunities into the culture of Yukuskokon. His experience includes working with local workforce in Doyon, Nana, Bering Straits, and Tyonek regions. He managed Nixon Fork Mine as a prototype for rural workforce development from 2003-2007 and has worked closely with AHTNA since 2008.
As a demonstration of our commitment, Yukuskokon is a proud supporter of Alaska Resource Education www.akresource.org , the UAA Geological Department www.uaa.alaska.edu/geology, and Mt. Sanford Tribal Consortium’s culture camp at the historical Batzulnetas Culture Camp on the Copper River www.mstc.org.
